For over four decades, I have had the privilege of shaping parts of Mumbai’s skyline through a practice rooted in enduring legacy, refined craftsmanship, and a belief in timeless architecture. Each project I undertake is part of a continued pursuit of clarity and purity in design—an effort to create work that is thoughtful, contextual, and deeply considered.

I have always believed that architecture must respond sensitively to its environment. My approach is grounded in a respect for site, climate, and materiality, with careful attention to natural light, proportion, and spatial calm. At the studio, we strive to express innovation with restraint, creating a quiet luxury that is defined not by excess, but by precision and care. I am particularly drawn to balancing minimalism with warmth—designing spaces that invite living, reflection, and engagement with art.

At Tushar Desai Associates, legacy for me extends beyond the buildings we create. It lies equally in mentorship, collaboration, and the nurturing of a progressive design culture. The studio is as much a space for learning and dialogue as it is for practice—guided by principles that go beyond trends and celebrate true craftsmanship. Our focus has always been on delivering architectural and interior design solutions that are distinctive, yet remain grounded and unpretentious.

Over the years, I have been honoured to be recognized among the top 50 interior designers in the industry. Serving as Vice President of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers from 2010 to 2014, and as Chairman of its Awards Committee from 2006 to 2014, allowed me to contribute to the growth and recognition of the profession at a national level.

Equally important to me is my engagement with the next generation. I continue to sit on juries, mentor students at the Balwant Sheth School of Architecture, and work closely with young professionals in my studio. Beyond design, mentorship remains one of my deepest passions—an enduring way to give back to the discipline that has shaped my life.
